Various winegrowers and all three winegrowers' cooperatives in the Ahr Valley offer tours of their historic wine cellars and public wine tastings. They explain clearly how much manual labour goes into a bottle of wine. From red to white, from dry to sweet: here you can taste different types of wine, learn first-hand about the vineyards, the terroir and how the wines are made and, of course, take your favourite wine home with you.

Focus on hiking
The wonderful landscape of the Ahr Valley invites you to hike and discover it. The best way to do this is on a guided hike. You will be travelling in a small group with a hiking guide who will show you the most beautiful paths and the best viewpoints and explain interesting facts about nature in the Ahr Valley and the history of the villages along the way. The 4-hour terrain hikes start from Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler all year round and usually end with a cosy stop for refreshments.
Would you like to combine hiking pleasure and wine enjoyment?
Dagernova Weinmanufaktur invites you to a panoramic hike through the Dernau vineyards every Saturday during the summer months, including a 3-person wine tasting. At the Mayschoß winegrowers' cooperative, you can take part in a guided hike to Saffenburg Castle on Saturdays, including a 4-person wine tasting, a guided tour of the cellar and a visit to the wine museum. On a hike along the educational wine trail in the Ahrweiler vineyards, you will learn more about winegrowing in the Ahr valley while enjoying fantastic views of the red wine metropolis of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. You will also receive a glass of Ahr wine.
The guided tour "Hiking between the worlds" in Altenahr is dedicated to nature and reconstruction. Here you hike along the Altenahrer Höhenwege and learn about the flood and the reconstruction of the Middle Ahr over a glass of wine.
The special experience
Are you looking for a guided tour with a special experience factor? Here, too, you will find great offers in the Ahr Valley that will leave you with unforgettable impressions.
Equipped with flaming torches, you can join an expert tour guide on an evening torch-lit walk through Ahrweiler's old town and up into the vineyards. During the night watchman's tour, you will also walk through the romantic alleyways of Ahrweiler in the dark, let the night watchman show you hidden corners and listen to his mysterious anecdotes from the history of the medieval old town. In Altenahr, you can learn more about the ruins of Are Castle during a historical castle tour and over a glass of Ahr wine.
On selected dates between April and October, you can immerse yourself in the soothing nature of Bad Neuenahr's recreational forest during a forest bathing course and learn interesting facts about the forest as a place of power.
The playful walks withfour-legged friends around Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler are specially dedicated to the topic of "Hiking with dogs", with numerous exercises for the dogs to master. A very special experience for humans and animals alike are the joint mystery walks with dogs, which start in Ramersbach Forest. By the way: you can also take part in mystery walks in Altenahr without a dog.
If you are in the Ahr Valley around St Martin's Day in November, you can look forward to a unique event in Germany on the guided hike to the St Martin's Day displays. The mountain fires and St Martin's Day displays in the Ahrweiler vineyards bear witness to a long tradition, a deep sense of home and a fascinating spectacle that attracts visitors from near and far.
Guided tours for families with children
So that the little ones don't miss out either, we offer guided tours especially for children during the school holidays (Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia). Here the kids explore historic Ahrweiler together with the tour guide - in an exciting and playful way. The children's tour "Knights, Robbers and Rascals" features medieval costumes and plenty of surprises. There is also a night watchman's tour through the mysterious alleyways of Ahrweiler especially for children. Boys and girls aged 5 and over can climb the mighty tower of the town gate on the special tour of the Ahr Gate and take a fascinating tour into Ahrweiler's past.
Adventurous kids can follow in the footsteps of the vineyard snail Lotta on the guided children's hike "With Lotta through the vineyard". The hike follows a section of the educational vineyard trail above Ahrweiler, where there is plenty to discover. The approximately three-kilometre circular trail is suitable for children aged 5 and over. Anyone over the age of 7 can also hike along without an adult.
