The Ahr valley barrier-free
"Travelling for all" with every comfort
A holiday full of experiences without having to sacrifice comfort - this is the aim of the principle of accessibility in tourism, "Travel for All".
Not only people with disabilities, but also people with pushchairs or older people benefit from the structural measures implemented in many accommodation establishments, leisure facilities, winegrowers and public spaces. The towns of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Sinzig and the municipality of Altenahr have joined forces in the state-wide "Tourism for All" competition to become pioneers in accessibility in Rhineland-Palatinate in the coming years.
Guests with disabilities can already find a selection of excursion options and authentic experiences in the Ahr Valley. From a barrier-free tour of a wine cellar at a winegrower's, to a guided tour of the government bunker documentation centre, to a visit to one of the many events in the picturesque spa gardens of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. The low-floor trains of the Ahr Valley Railway make it easy to get on and off the train without having to negotiate steps or landings at the edge of the platform. The audio guides to the most beautiful sights in Sinzig, Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and Altenahr are a new addition.

Model region "Ahr valley for all"
The Ahr Valley should be a destination where everyone can spend a comfortable and relaxing holiday. The towns of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and Sinzig and the municipality of Altenahr have joined forces as the "Ahr Valley for All" model region following their successful participation in the state competition "Tourism for All" organised by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture and will receive exclusive access to funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the development of barrier-free tourism offers until October 2021. The focus is on marketing measures that will create significant added value for guests in the Ahr Valley and close the gaps in the tourism service chain.

All accommodation marked with this symbol (right) has information on accessibility according to the nationwide labelling system "Travel for All". This means that trained assessors record the information necessary for guests and evaluate it according to clear quality criteria. These criteria were developed over several years in cooperation and consultation with organisations of people with disabilities and tourism stakeholders.
