Altenahr

Wine village and Eldorado for hiking fans in the Ahr valley

Surrounded by a bizarre rocky landscape and with around 1,000 years of history, Altenahr is one of the most diverse places on the Middle Ahr. Nature lovers and hikers can set off from here on the Rotweinwanderweg, conquer the Teufelsloch or enjoy the fantastic view from Are Castle above Altenahr.

Favourite place: View from the "Altenahrer Eck"
The view of Altenahr, Are Castle and the Ahrgebirge mountains from the vineyards at "Altenahrer Eck" is simply marvellous. The vineyard site has even been honoured by the German Wine Institute as the "Most Beautiful Wine View". The Rotweinwanderweg trail leads directly along here. Many benches invite you to linger and watch TV.
