The Ahr heights

Lind
Theme trails with foresight
The AhrSteig award-winning trail leads across the Ahr heights around Lind and presents magnificent views far across the Eifel landscape as far as the Siebengebirge.
Four themed hiking trails - the "Dreidörfer-Naturerlebniswege" - invite you to actively immerse yourself in the landscape.
Kirchsahr
Hiking paradise Sahrbachtal
Kreuzberg Castle points the way to the Sahrbach Valley. With a network of around 80 kilometres of trails, the small side valley of the Ahr is an insider tip for hikers and nature explorers. Signposts along the way tell of the cultural treasures of the Sahrbach Valley. Celts and Romans, miners and charcoal burners have all left their mark on the landscape. Hikers can also look forward to numerous views.
Heavenly good: the astronomical hiking trails in the Sahrbach Valley take you "to the stars". Here you will encounter a marvel of technology: the Effelsberg radio telescope is one of the largest fully mobile radio telescopes in the world.

Kesseling & Heckenbach
Mountain panorama and juniper meadow

The village of Kalenborn is known for its riding stables and excellent gastronomy. Hikers set off from the Kalenborner Höhe towards the vineyards. The enchanted Vischeltal valley is also a popular destination for nature and culture explorers.

Hönningen & Ahrbrück
Along the Ahr cycle path
The Ahr cycle path leads along the Ahr past Hönningen and Ahrbrück. The hiking trails in the villages are connected to the AhrSteig and the Teufelsley nature reserve. In Hönningen, the "Teufelsley Trail" leads to the imposing geological natural monument: the Teufelsley with its steep, high rocks made of quartz rock is considered to be the largest continuous quartzite block in Europe. From the summit of the Teufelsley, there is a marvellous view over the mountain ranges of the Ahrgebirge.
