Public transport in the Ahr valley

The most important bus & train services at a glance

In the Ahr Valley and beyond, you can travel comfortably by public transport and leave your car at home or at your accommodation. By train, you can comfortably reach the villages of the lower Ahr from Bad Bodendorf to Walporzheim. The rail replacement service will take you along the Middle Ahr to Ahrbrück until the Ahr Valley Railway is fully rebuilt. Other bus routes connect the municipalities of Altenahr, Adenau and Blankenheim, as well as Grafschaft, the Nürburgring and Bad Münstereifel with the Ahr Valley. We have summarised the most important connections for you here.

By the way: If you stay overnight in the Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler municipal area, you will receive the Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler guest card from the first night, with which you can use all buses and trains in the entire Rhine-Moselle transport network (VRM) free of charge. This will take you to Maria Laach, Andernach, Koblenz, the Rhine or the volcanic Eifel region around Mayen, for example.
If you don't have a guest card, you can also use all regional buses and trains with the Deutschlandticket.

To the timetable information

Ahr Valley Railway RB30 and RB39

Trains on the RB 30 line (Bonn - Remagen - Ahrbrück) run every hour on the section between Bonn main station and Walporzheim . The RB 39 line (Remagen - Dernau) also runs every hour between Remagen and Walporzheim. This means that the Ahrtalbahn is available twice an hour. Please note that the Ahr Valley Railway is currently being rebuilt. Therefore, there are currently no trains to Dernau or Ahrbrück. All trains terminate at Walporzheim station. The rest of the route will be covered by rail replacement services. You can find the current timetable for the Ahrtalbahn here:
