New: "Taste the Ahr Valley!" with 30 participating restaurants

A culinary discovery tour through the Ahr Valley in February and March 2025

Press release from 6 December 2024

The hosts in the Ahr Valley have come up with a new gastronomic highlight for the months of February and March 2025: The "Taste the Ahr Valley Menu" is a heartfelt invitation to get to know and love the diverse region with its regional cuisine and excellent Ahr wines. A total of 30 restaurants in the Ahr Valley have each put together a sophisticated three-course menu - at particularly fair prices starting at 29 euros. Whether rustic vintner cuisine, sophisticated gourmet delights, regional specialities or dishes from all over the world - the varied menus of the Ahr Valley restaurants leave no culinary wish unfulfilled. To make the culinary experience even more complete, guests can also get to know the variety of Ahr wines with a wine accompaniment.
Hotelier and restaurateur Daniel Hempen from Hotel Rodderhof in Ahrweiler came up with the idea for the gastronomy campaign. "The Ahr Valley is a hotspot for connoisseurs, both in terms of high-quality Ahr wines and regional gastronomy. With "Taste the Ahr Valley", we want to bring guests and locals closer to the warm Ahr Valley culture of enjoyment," says Hempen. He immediately met with an open ear at the regular hosts' get-together in the summer. Thanks to the creative support of the agency "shapefruit" and the financial help of the company "StromWeck" from Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Ahrtal-Tourismus was able to realise the project for 2025.
Andreas Lambeck, Managing Director of Ahrtal-Tourismus, emphasised the enormous potential of such initiatives: "It is essential for the Ahr Valley, especially in this phase of progressive reconstruction, to attract national attention with ever new themes, campaigns and events. "Try Ahrtal" is a great example of how we in the Ahr Valley are working together to achieve this." He therefore thanked the 30 participating restaurants in particular, who have created delicious menus in a very short space of time.
Delicious soups, carpaccio or sophisticated salads are served as starters, for example. The main courses range from corn-fed poulard and Eifel lamb shank to "surf and turf" variations, offering a wealth of delicious savoury dishes. The dessert menu tempts with lava cakes, sour cream tarts or homemade ice cream parfait, for example. Of course, all restaurants also offer vegetarian options.
If you would like to take part in "Taste the Ahr Valley", simply book a table directly with the respective restaurant and add "Taste the Ahr Valley - Menu". It is also possible to announce any intolerances on this occasion.
