Discovery programmes for young & old
Holidays in the Ahr Valley are twice as much fun with children. A wide range of adventure programmes await young and old: Varied hikes through the vineyards, hands-on city history, lots of fun and action in nature as well as vantage points to marvel at. For example, learn exciting facts about life, animals and grapes in the vineyard with the vineyard snail Lotta or discover the medieval town of Ahrweiler with its mighty gates on a guided tour for children.
There is so much for families to experience in the Ahr Valley at any time of year!

Night watchman tour for children in Ahrweiler
A tour for the whole family through the alleyways of Ahrweiler brings back to life the time when night watchmen had to keep order after dark. The young participants accompany the night watchman on his exciting tour, which brings the old tradition and stories back to life. Those who wish can bring a lantern or torch.

With Lotta through the vineyard
Adventurous children can learn about the Ahr valley and the work of winegrowers on a section of the educational wine trail above Ahrweiler in the footsteps of Lotta the snail.
The circular route is approx. 3 km long.

The Ahr Gate for children
A tour guide takes you up high on a fascinating tour into Ahrweiler's past. The history of the town gate and the town from the Middle Ages to the present day is brought back to life here.
Please note that you will have to climb around 100 steps spread over four levels.
Age recommendation: 7-13 years

Children go on a journey of discovery through the centuries in the old Electorate of Cologne town of Ahrweiler with its town wall and four town gates. Exciting stories for all ages make the tour an experience.
