Oldest winery in Dernau
The Schlosshof in Dernau is considered the oldest winery in the Ahr Valley and looks back on around 300 years of winemaking tradition. Originally, the estate was part of a castle complex and served as a farm building for the then burgrave. Over the centuries, the building was inhabited by various noble families and used as a town house and court - at times even with a prison attached. In 1724, the dilapidated house was extensively renovated and from then on took on a new role as a community centre and restaurant. Since then, the Schlosshof has been family-owned and is now run by Gisbert Ley in the 11th generation.
