A breathtaking natural monument on the AhrSteig
The Prümer Tor natural monument is an exciting geological feature
geological feature that was created solely by the power of water.
In an approximately 100 metre long and 12 metre high rock rib, the water has
rib of rock about 6 - 8 metres wide has been carved out by the water over millions of years.
Through the gate thus created, the Prüm feudal people of the Ahrgau once travelled through.
fiefdoms of the Ahrgau used to drive their tithes on carts towards Bad Münstereifel.
This is how the impressive rock gate got its name Prümer Tor.
