Parish Church St. John the Baptist Adenau

The parish is first mentioned in 1202. The original building likely dates from the 10th/11th century, with later expansions and renovations. Worth seeing in the interior of the church, renovated in 1990: in the main choir, the high altar made from remnants of an altar shrine from the early 16th century and the contemporaneous figures in the choir, in the side aisle the Pieta and the Romanesque baptismal font made of basalt. In the area of the tower hall, older wall paintings were uncovered and restored during the renovation. Embedded in the outer wall are some basalt crosses from the cemetery that was relocated from here in 1828. The atrium is the remnant of the church section destroyed by bombs in 1945.
