Ahütte

A journey back to the railway era of 1973

 

The Ahütte railway station takes visitors back to a time when train journeys still began with cardboard tickets at the ticket office, rail buses rattled through the Eifel and even small village railway stations were run by a stationmaster. Built in 1912, the station was once an important transport hub for the village of Ahütte - goods, livestock and passengers were loaded here and trains took travellers past places like Müsch, Niederehe and Walsdorf to Jünkerath.

Today, guests can once again immerse themselves in the world of historic rail transport - including an original rail bus since 2023. Ahütte station is a lovingly preserved relic from the heyday of the "Deutsche Bundesbahn", bringing the history of rural rail transport to life.
