Krausbergturm

Dernau

High above Dernau, it offers a fabulous view

The Krausberg tower is a striking landmark of the wine village of Dernau and the Eifelverein. Even from a distance, the stone observation tower towers high above the village and attracts attention. Anyone who dares to climb the Krausberg is rewarded with an impressive panoramic view: on a clear day, the silhouettes of Cologne and Bonn appear on the horizon and even Cologne Cathedral can be recognised in the distance. However, the direct view of the Ahr valley, which lies at the visitor's feet, is particularly impressive. The observation tower was inaugurated in March 1927 and the first refuge followed a year later. Both structures were built by members of the Eifelverein themselves.
