This enchanting, wintry circular trail starts at the walkers’ car park by the Lourdes Chapel and the Rappelkiste forest nursery; it is approximately 3 km long and suitable for pushchairs. Visitors of all ages are invited to explore, marvel and join in the fun.
The Elf Trail will be launched on 27 November 2026 at 2 pm with a small opening ceremony featuring children’s punch and seating. Anyone interested is warmly invited to join us in celebrating the trail’s opening and to discover the lovingly designed stations.
Prospective ‘Wichtel’ builders: The community coordinators warmly invite nurseries, schools, organisations, clubs and committed individuals to take part in a special hands-on activity. There are virtually no limits to your creativity. Whether it’s lovingly crafted gnome doors or gnome hats, entire gnome houses, small interactive elements, painted stones or imaginative decorations – every idea is welcome. The only important thing is that the stations are wind- and weather-proof and made largely from natural materials, as they will be displayed outdoors throughout the campaign period and should remain in place for as long as possible. Anyone wishing to take part with their own gnome station or who has any questions about the campaign can contact Annette Linden (0171 544 2041) or Lisa-Marie Weber (0151 7288 7206). The two community coordinators look forward to receiving plenty of registrations.
