The Blankenheim Ghost Parade has been a tradition in Blankenheim for centuries and takes place every year. Participants dress up as ghosts with bed sheets and those who wish can take a pitch fakel with them. Dressed up like this, the "fools" parade through the dark alleyways of Blankenheim to drive away the dark winter demons. To the music of the traditional carnival march "Juh-Jah Kribbel in d'r Botz", the Blankenheim Obergeist on his horse, the Jecke Böhnchen and his entourage parade through the town. The procession ends at the Weiherhalle, where the ghost party is celebrated afterwards.
